Where it differs from the manual

A sample we made from the maker's public manual: not made for, paid for or approved by the maker. Its name, logo and model are left out, and the manual's pages aren't shown.

  • The desk comes with two manuals: the credenza's (steps 1 to 7 here) and the return's (steps 8 and 9). Every step of both is shown, in their left-hand version.
  • Neither manual draws the two pieces joined, so where the return meets the credenza is our reading of the drawings, not the maker's own layout.
  • One page of the return's manual draws two metal legs that neither parts list includes; the video builds the return's free end on its own panels, as its first step does.
  • Where a parts list and the drawings disagree (the drawer runners, the drawer bottoms), the video follows the drawings.
  • The drawers are built standing up in front of the credenza; the manual stands each box on its front to fix it.
  • The manuals print no panel sizes; the panels are sized from the drawings. Hardware is named by size and kind, not by the manuals' codes.
